As is so often the case with food blogs, the story of Kitchen Down the Street starts with an a cappella group. The four of us at different points in the last *cough35cough* years attended the same university, singing in the same a cappella group. Several years ago a couple alumnae formed an offshoot group and we were four of the women who joined.
Over time we realized that we had more in common than the ability to harmonize (and no ability to beatbox whatsoever), and we decided to get together to discuss our love of food, cooking, restaurants, and all things kitcheny and yum. Our first meeting took place at an amazing restaurant in Portsmouth, NH called Street (which you absolutely must visit next time you are in town, do not argue with us) and this is where we decided to start a food blog that we would each contribute to, partially as a way to share our recipes with each other and partially as a way to share them with you. Et voilà, Kitchen Down the Street was born! None of us are chefs (though one of us is married to one) but we all have a passion for food and feeding our loved ones.
There are others in our lives who have much to offer, culinarily speaking, so from time to time we ask them to submit guest posts, plus we also feature restaurants and watering holes near and far in our Travel section.
